Expert Review

I've been using AstroGuru: Astrology+Palmistry for a few months now. It's an app that combines different spiritual and predictive tools, mainly focused on astrology and palm reading. You can get daily horoscopes, chat with astrologers, and even upload a photo of your palm for an automated analysis. I remember downloading it from the Google Play Store last year; it's also available on the App Store. The app has a huge number of installs, well into the millions, which made me feel it was pretty popular and trusted. It's free to download and install, which is great for trying it out. You do need to register with your phone number or email to use most features. While the core app is free, there are definitely in-app purchases for detailed reports and live consultations. You'll also see some ads, but they're not too intrusive in my experience.

I usually open the app in the morning to check my daily horoscope. It's become a bit of a routine. For the palmistry feature, I found the best results come from taking a very clear, well-lit picture of my palm against a plain background. The app then gives a surprisingly detailed breakdown of lines and mounts. A good tip is to use the 'free questions' section wisely; you get a couple to start with for chatting with an astrologer, so save them for things you're really curious about. The interface is straightforward, so you don't need to be an expert to navigate it.

There are tons of similar astrology apps out there, like Co–Star or The Pattern. I tried a few before settling on AstroGuru. The main reason I stuck with this app is its combination of features. While Co–Star has a very modern design, AstroGuru feels more comprehensive, especially with the live astrologer chat and the palmistry scanner. It's like having two apps in one. For someone like me who's casually interested in both astrology and the novelty of palm reading, this app just covers more ground without needing to download and switch between multiple applications. It's not the most minimalist app, but it gets the job done for what I need.

Key Functional Highlights

  • 🔮 Live Astrologer Chat: Unlike many apps that only offer automated reports, AstroGuru lets you actually talk to professional astrologers. You can ask specific, personal questions and get tailored advice, which feels much more valuable than a generic horoscope.
  • 📸 AI Palmistry Scanner: This is the standout feature for me. You simply take a photo of your palm, and the app's AI analyzes your heart line, head line, life line, and mounts. It's a unique feature I haven't seen done as seamlessly in other mainstream astrology apps.
  • 📅 Comprehensive Daily Tools: Beyond just a sun sign horoscope, the app provides a daily planetary transit overview, numerology readings, and tarot card draws. It's a one-stop shop for your daily spiritual check-in.
  • 🌐 Regional Specificity: The app offers astrological systems popular in South Asia, like Vedic astrology, alongside Western astrology. This breadth makes it appealing to a wider audience compared to apps that focus on just one genre.

Advantages & Benefits

  • ✅ Feature-Rich Free Tier: You can do a lot—daily horoscopes, basic palm scan, some free questions—without paying, which is more generous than apps like Sanctuary that lock most content behind a paywall immediately.
  • ✅ Two-in-One Convenience: Getting both astrology and palmistry in a single download is a major strength. It saves storage space and hassle compared to using separate apps for each interest.
  • ✅ High Accessibility: With millions of installs on Google Play and a simple interface, it's very easy for anyone to get started, regardless of their prior knowledge in this genre.

Areas for Improvement

  • ⚠️ Ads and Upselling: The free experience is peppered with ads and prompts to buy premium reports or chat credits. It can feel a bit commercial compared to a cleaner, ad-free app like TimePassages.
  • ⚠️ Palm Scan Accuracy Variability: The AI palm reading is cool, but its accuracy seems to depend heavily on photo quality. It can feel gimmicky at times, unlike a consistent text-based analysis from another app.
  • ⚠️ Interface Clutter: With so many features, the home screen can feel busy and overwhelming, especially when compared to the minimalist, focused design of an app like The Pattern.
